IFZA

IFZA's pitch is simple: a Dubai licence at northern-emirates discipline. Its genuinely distinctive feature is quieter — activity bundling that lets one licence do the work of two. Here is when that arithmetic wins.

The bundling advantage, priced

Most authorities price activities individually: a consultant who also resells software pays for consultancy, then pays again to add trading. IFZA's group model folds related activities into one licence fee — consultancy plus IT services plus a compatible trading line can live on a single licence. For hybrid business models this is worth AED 2,000–5,000 a year against zones that itemise, and it is the concrete reason IFZA appears on shortlists that pure price comparison would exclude it from.

The catch is the word 'compatible'. Groups have boundaries, and an activity that crosses them still forces a second licence anywhere. We map your next twelve months of invoicing against IFZA's group definitions before quoting — the bundle only saves money if your actual revenue fits inside it.

What the Dubai premium purchases at this tier

Against Ajman or RAKEZ entry pricing, IFZA carries roughly a AED 5,000–7,000 premium. What it buys is specific: a Dubai trade licence and address for proposals, tenders and marketplaces that filter by emirate; a client-meeting environment at Dubai Digital Park; and — for certain corridors — bank reviewers who have processed thousands of IFZA files and treat the profile as familiar.

What it does not buy: mainland reach (UAE consumer sales still need a bridge), automatic prestige with premium banks (substance still decides), or DMCC-grade ecosystem effects. Founders paying the premium for the address alone are usually right; founders paying it expecting doors to open by brand are usually disappointed. We say which case is yours before the invoice, not after.

Processing culture: what the 3–5 days feel like

IFZA runs a broker-heavy, volume-tuned operation — submissions are digital, responses are fast, and standard files rarely meet a human question. That efficiency is real, and it is also why activity wording deserves extra care here: a high-throughput registry approves what you wrote, not what you meant. Ambiguous scope sails through licensing and then fails at the bank.

Our IFZA files therefore front-load the thinking: activity groups matched to actual revenue, share capital declared at a bank-credible figure, and the KYC pack built to double for account opening. The licence then issues in three to five working days, and the establishment card and visa chain follow the standard national sequence at 5–10 working days per residency.

The honest verdict by founder type

Choose IFZA when: your model spans two or three related activity families; a Dubai address materially helps sales or hiring; and your budget clears the mid-tier comfortably including year two. The bundling economics compound annually — the longer the entity lives, the better the decision looks.

Choose elsewhere when: a single activity covers all revenue and cost leadership matters (northern emirates win), your customers are UAE consumers (mainland wins), or you are building in commodities, crypto or finance where DMCC, VARA-scope or DIFC ecosystems carry the file. IFZA is an excellent generalist; it is nobody's specialist.

Frequently asked questions

How do IFZA's activity groups actually work when I invoice clients?

Your licence lists the approved groups, and invoices must fall within them. The practical discipline is matching invoice wording to licensed scope — 'IT consultancy' billing software licences needs the trading line active. We write the group selection from your real revenue plan, so month-six invoices never test the boundary. Adding a group later is routine but re-papers approvals; starting correct is cheaper.

Is IFZA's Dubai address enough for banks, or will they want an office?

For most SME accounts, the licence plus the standard workspace arrangement suffices when the rest of the file is strong. A minority of banks, and certain higher-scrutiny activities, weight physical substance more heavily — for those we either match a different bank or price the desk upgrade as a deliberate banking investment. The point is choosing that trade-off knowingly rather than discovering it mid-application.

Can an IFZA company hold the 0% Corporate Tax rate?

As a free zone entity it can qualify as a QFZP — keeping 0% on qualifying income — provided substance, audited accounts, de-minimis limits and transfer-pricing compliance all hold. Failing any condition prices all income at 9% for at least five years, so the decision to defend 0% is an accounting commitment, not a checkbox. Our tax desk scopes whether your income profile genuinely qualifies before you build around the assumption.

What does year two at IFZA cost compared with the AED 12,900 headline?

Plan renewal at close to the full government lines, plus establishment card, insurance renewals and any visas falling due — typically 85–100% of year-one equivalents. IFZA runs periodic promotions that discount year one specifically, which flatters first invoices; our quotations show both years side by side so the promotion never disguises the standing cost.
