Meydan Free Zone
Meydan built its registry for founders who may never visit it: e-signature incorporation, digital everything, and a Dubai address that reads well on an invoice. The remote promise is real — with two caveats worth knowing in advance.
How remote is 'fully remote', precisely
Formation: genuinely remote. Meydan accepts digital KYC and e-signature on incorporation documents, which removes the embassy-notarised POA that other zones require from overseas founders — a saving of one to three weeks and a few hundred dollars of legalisation, and the single biggest reason relocating-later founders start here.
Residency and banking: partially remote. A residence visa still needs your biometrics and medical in the UAE — one trip, typically four to five days, whenever you choose to add it. Banks vary: several onboard by video against a Meydan licence, while others invite remote-formed companies to a stronger substance conversation. We shortlist the video-KYC institutions first for exactly this profile.
The address as an asset
Meydan's registered address places your company minutes from Downtown Dubai, and for founders selling to international clients the letterhead effect is genuine — 'Meydan, Dubai' reads as established in a way that costs five figures more to replicate onshore. E-commerce sellers also report smoother marketplace onboarding with a Dubai-emirate licence, which alone can justify the tier for that model.
Treat the address as marketing infrastructure, not premises: client meetings happen in serviced venues you book, and physical operations — warehousing, retail, staff at desks — need real space priced separately. The founders best served here run laptops-and-contracts businesses where the address works and nothing else needs to.
Where Meydan wins the comparison, and where it loses
Against IFZA, its closest rival, Meydan wins on remoteness (no-POA formation) and often on promotional pricing; IFZA answers with activity bundling that suits multi-line models. Against Ajman or RAKEZ, Meydan costs roughly double at entry — buying the Dubai address and the digital process, nothing more mystical than that.
Meydan loses when the business needs physical anything: its ecosystem is administrative rather than industrial, so warehouse-attached models belong in RAKEZ, JAFZA or KEZAD. It also loses for regulated finance and for founders whose banks demand office-grade substance from day one. The correct Meydan client would barely notice if the zone were entirely virtual — because for them, it effectively is.
Running the file from three time zones away
Our remote sequence: a video scoping call, digital KYC collection, activity and name clearance, then e-signature incorporation — most clients hold a licence within a week of the first call without printing a page. The establishment card and any visa wait until your chosen UAE trip; nothing forces the timing.
Banking is where remote founders need a partner physically present: we attend, couriers documents, and manage the file with institutions we have pre-matched to your corridor and activity. When the account opens — one to three weeks with a prepared file — you have a functioning Dubai company you have never flown to visit. Several dozen of our clients run exactly that configuration.
Frequently asked questions
Can I complete Meydan incorporation without notarising a power of attorney?
For standard individual-shareholder files, yes — Meydan's e-signature process replaces the notarised POA most zones require from overseas founders, which is its defining advantage. Corporate shareholders still need their parent documents legalised, and any later residence visa still requires one personal trip for biometrics. Formation itself, though, completes from your desk.
Do banks treat Meydan companies differently because formation was remote?
A few weight physical substance more heavily for remote-formed entities; most underwrite the usual triad of activity, flows and documentation. Our approach is to shortlist the institutions currently onboarding Meydan profiles by video, prepare the source-of-funds narrative properly once, and attend in person on your behalf where a branch visit helps. Sequenced that way, the remote origin stops being a variable.
Is the Meydan address usable for Amazon.ae, Noon and payment gateways?
Yes — marketplaces verify the trade licence and the emirate, and a Dubai-issued Meydan licence satisfies both, which is one of the zone's quiet advantages for e-commerce. Payment gateways additionally underwrite your website's compliance pages and settlement history; we prepare that pack alongside the licence so gateway approval does not become the surprise bottleneck.
What should a Meydan founder budget beyond the AED 12,500 entry line?
The establishment card, then AED 3,500–5,500 per residence visa when you add one, insurance, and renewal at the standard 85–100% of government lines. Fully remote zero-visa operators run the leanest version — licence plus card plus renewal — which keeps a functioning Dubai entity under a serious founder's coffee budget. The written quotation dates every figure.
